Rinpoche has always loved animals, even from a young age with his first dogs Princey and Hulter in Howell, New Jersey. Since arriving in Malaysia, Rinpoche has had schnauzers, starting with his beloved late Mumu. As part of caring for them, Rinpoche had his students read a schnauzer book to learn about the background, traits and characteristics of schnauzers. Training sessions were organised to ensure everyone interacts with them in a consistent way, and Rinpoche also consulted with a canine nutritionist to give them most appropriate diet available. For Rinpoche, caring for another being, whether human or animal, means going all the way to do it.
